Sozopol

To the south of Burgas - about a 20 minute drive, past the protected marsh area full of wild flowers and birds is the little fishing village of Sozopol. It's a quaint little village with a marina and is fairly touristy, with coaches of sightseers pulling up fairly regularly. It must be an excursion from Sunny Beach or something? Never mind, it's still worth a stroll around the narrow cobbled streets admiring the traditional architecture and taking in the atmosphere. There is also a superb partially renovated castle set into the coastal cliffs as you can see from the photos below.

When we have visited, there has been an outdoor market, selling everything from the usual knick knacks to hunting knives and some very nice traditional homemade lace. Food and drink prices are a bit higher than elswhere, due to the tourists, but you can still get a nice large cappuccino for 55p. There's an excellent beach and a great short walk, following the cliffs around the village and going past the castle.
